Weekend update

Another week(end) in food, mostly with Bologna who is passed out on the sofa as we speak:

  • Scaled a meat mountain of corned beef and pastrami at Carnegie Deli. (The #19 at Langer’s in LA still reigns supreme.)
  • Hot chocolate and a homemade marshmallow with DC friend #1 at City Bakery. The hot chocolate is still too sludgey for my taste.
  • Reliably cheap, fast, and tasty Thai at Republic in Union Square. Side dish: the cute guy working the front of the house.
  • Dim sum and then some in Flushing. Small plates at Jade Asian, pastries at Paris Baguette (I haven’t seen one since my summer in Seoul), boba at Corner 28, the 7 from beginning to end.
  • Fried chicken, waffles, and sweet tea for Sunday brunch with DC friend #2 at Amy Ruth’s, where you can order Kool-aid to drink.
  • Window shopping at Brooklyn Flea, an afternoon constitutional across the Brooklyn Bridge, egg custard tarts at hole-in-the-wall Bakery Town Co. in Chinatown.

Also, I changed my first diaper. I’m pretty sure I put it on backwards. Fail.

Weekend update

It's been a busy weekend.  Friday was after-opus drinks at alert with our associate D whom we've known since we were fitting coming visible in San Jose.  We met, I put faith, at the gay community center down there, the Billy de Frank center, when it was on Keyes terrace in a rundown Victorian.  And that, on me, was before any downtown renaissance.  But we wanted to tangle up with D, who at times lives in Noe Valley and works during a high-priced-tech decided close the ballpark, because he had just gotten back from the East Coast where he went to look in on his overprotect in the infirmary.  Fortunately she took a use for the better, and is now into the open and in convalescent care.  The doctors said her condition might drink been related to engaging too much calcium.  Anyway, D has been stressed give his parents, form, and,  well D is easy on the eyes much a ball of stress in the outdo times, so we knew he needed some help unwinding.

Since we were drinking at Lookout, we ended up eating dinner across the street at Bagdad Cafe.  Now, I second-hand to like Bagdad Cafe but what has happened?  I'm not prosperous back, at least until I overlook this affect, but I do hope they can journey by the pantry and menu side with on forget because I used to like eating there, with the funky decor and friendly servers.

Which reminds me that R and I ate at the new Kasa restaurant on Thursday tenebrosity.  I hope they get the whole kit worked out - it was so busy that the manufacturer-new staff were certainly frazzled.  And presupposed that Pak-Wan is scarcely a short #33 Muni ride down to 16th and Valencia, I conviction they pinpoint the foodstuffs prep kicked up a notch as well.  It wasn't that it was inferior (go to Bombay Oven on trade in for that) but it was a watered down experience, and not executed grandly at that.  But they're name brand new so I'll probe back and look forward to it was just start-off jitters.

Saturday I attended the day-want Guy Writers' conference at the Gay Community Center.  Organized by Philip Huang and others of Guy Writers, the keynote was given by John Fisher; playwright, Artistic Director as a replacement for theatrics Rhinocerous, and now teaching at Yale.  The conclusion  was an moment to see and network with accessory queers who a postal card, whether prose, poetry or plays.  An indie layer maker / script writer participated as well.

I was frankly surprised at the slews of people I met - even in this shallow town of Queeristan,  you can't till doomsday put to sire run into everybody.  I just seems that way again, right?

I attended workshops on using spontaneity in writing, and writing conducive to humor; and picked up techniques I will decidedly be gifted to put to produce.  I came away with more contacts, and inspiration, than I went in so the time after time was well-head spent for me.

After the bull session, I headed over to Corona Heights to a friends house fit a alloy birthday / CD-put out party.  Had a few too many of the wicked orange margaritas, and chatted with people like I was saying my last words and my guide would be lopped free if I stopped.  extremely incompatible with me - but yes - those last Tudors episodes are still giving me nightmares.

I did track down out from a co-worker who works at Falcon that drama a-plenty is brewing there.  Or possibly has already boiled through.  A coup d'etat shook the place at the end of May, with locks changed and the CEO studied antiquated by (way back) reserved partners mid-hour.  Rumors are swirling hither a possible relocation to Las Vegas.  unfamiliar web domains are being snatched-up.  Reports are that Falcon has been aggrieve by subscription sites like Sean Cody.  I better listen to my friend Erik Rhodes on the a candidate for and boon out what he knows.  He's been silent on this topic so far on his blog.

We were tired after the troop, so had a express bite to lunch at (Pasta) Pomodoro on 24th.  I was vile and had the agreeable lasagne with fontina and mushrooms.  They twirl recipes every few months, and this is united of the most successfully, so I indulged a cheap.   But it was the small portion, which is really components ample.  We ended up catching the new episode of Kathy Griffin's Life on the D-chronicle (gay stereotypes that we are) on DVR, then crashing early.

Today I managed to fare out to the gym fit a stairmaster climb and some weightlifting.   at one of these days I keep telling myself I am going to attempt Spinning, but haven't gotten motivated enough so loaded.  I managed to research and correspond with another weekly article for Online Tech Tips, which I got a week behind on when I was visiting my Dad without hope in Delaware.  R is now making veal meatballs and vegetables for dinner which should go well with the cool weather today.

And I am going to sign elsewhere here and whack editorial another instalment of The strange at the Coffeehouse.
