This Little Vegan Went to Market…
Rewind! Saturday, June 27, was a busy day for this busy-bee! Not only was it my beautiful mother’s birthday…

…it was also the first Saturday that the 3 of us, my sis Emily included, had all scheduled to be off of work in a few months! We could think of no better way to start the day than to visit a favorite destination: Winter Park for the Farmer’s Market! (Read about our last visit .)

- Can you hear the angels singing?

- Heaven!

- Fresh baked goods

- More goodies

- Flowers Galore

- A vegan raw olive tapenade…surprisingly tasty, considering the fact that I’m not a huge fan of olives.

- These veggie chips taste better than sex. Just sayin’.
After buying our combined weight in fresh produce and flowers, we walked over to Park Avenue, where we may or may not have made several non-edible purchases.
Since it was around 1:30 by this time, and I had eaten breakfast at 8, the stomach was yelling at me for some food! So where did mom allow her little vegan to go on her special day? , of course!

- I ordered the Healthy Trio, only with extra veggies instead of bread/chips. Everything but the olive tapenade was devoured!

- The 3 of us shared some edamame…does anyone else eat the pods, too, or am I just strange?

- Mom and Sister split a pizza with artichoke hearts and–blech–more olives (for sis). Conquered a major fear food here by having 2 small bites!

- Sister’s mashed potatoes and gravy…had a teeny bite of this, too!
Afterwards, we all shared a small chocolate chip cookie, which tasted exactly like the ones my mom used to make! Even she was surprised at the similarities! Needless to say, I conquered a few fear foods in this trip.
Next, we made our way over to the Orlando Whole Foods, which was celebrating it’s 1-year birthday! I couldn’t pass up my favorite concoction from the juice bar…

- …a WALDORF! 5 large kale leaves, 3 apples, and 3 celery stalks. I get them to add a raw beet and some parsley, for an after-morning glow.
A brief stop at Downtown Disney so my mom could get a birthday sundae from Ghirardelli, and we were on our way home! I love being so close to my family—as I’ve said numerous times before, we have been through a lot of difficult times together, and we have only come out stronger!
Blogging 2 consecutive days in a row?!?! I could get used to this…or something similar.
