Readers of this blog know one thing. I travel A LOT!. As continuous tourist I am always searching for news and information about the places I visit. The iphone has been a godsend for finding restaurant reviews, business listings and historical information and landmarks.
Despite the abundance of iphone apps for travelers there is still a lack of good local information online. Sure there are websites like . But this site is old and stale and lacks COMMUNITY.
takes online communities to a new level and provides a very web 2.0ish website message board for local web visitors. The active discussions are filled with lively locals willing to discuss politics, town history or upcoming events.
Recently I had to travel to Sacramento and found the to be an enormous help. Sacramento is best known as the birthplace of the Gold Rush. When I visited there I got all the information about events, news and politics. I now use it to communicate with my hometown community More on this later!. Suffice to say, it is novel to find a new, well done web 2.0 community that tackles the need for better local news sites.
