Lula Cafe (Chicago/Logan Square, Breakfast)
Our first breakfast in Chicago portended well also in behalf of the rest of our blunder - solely a mile from our hostess's house, and in the bull's-eye of Logan cube, Lula Cafe is a cute breakfast joint (also serving lunch & dinner) with some compelling dishes.

It was sufficiently crowded as regards a Thursday up to the minute-morning, but we were seated quickly, and perused the menu, which has customary American breakfast provisions, with some mid-western and Mexican twists. The coffee was burn-unfettered and sapid, always a good premonition, and the interior is comfortable, with high tin ceilings, wood furniture, and presumably state art on the walls.
I unhesitating on the special of beans and crispy grits, a large platter of two firm, round toughness cakes, skillet-seared on the surface, along with a mound of tasty pinto beans, eggs, cheese, and some pickled vegetables. It was a austere, but flavorful preparation, and I enjoyed it.
Sarah ordered the breakfast burrito, which was damned good too, stuffed with avocado, onion, peppers, potatoes, eggs and cheese, with sour cream and green salsa on the side, mmmm!
Service was casual and friendly, and our orders arrived quickly. All told this was a goodness breakfast town, and extraordinarily convenient to where we were staying, and I would recommend checking them out if you want breakfast in this extent.
It's value noting that their weekend brunch menu (unavailable on our Thursday visit) has some more riveting-looking specials (steer clear of confit omelet, squash pancakes, eggs florentine w/fish, and so on). We escaped for ~$25 before present, which was filamentous with us.
My rating: rather Good
