Goodbye June

Half of 2009 is over?! Seriously, where does the time go. Do you know, I only have 6 weeks left of work, and 7 weeks until I move? Crazy I tell ya!

So last night’s dinner at Vista 18 was wonderful. Not only was it good company, beautiful views, and great food, but I was all dressed up and looking pretty fantabulous. Considering I’d biked home from work, it was a miracle I made it out the door in time, not looking like a slob. I showered, did my hair, put on a face, and wore a dress (!), my sexy peep toe pumps (!) and my trench coat that I never get to wear. I even pulled out the white gold Italian necklace – fancy schmancy! So fun to get dressed up and go out to eat. Alas, I was in such a hurry, there was no time to set up a photo shoot, and Sienna isn’t good with the camera.

As for the eats – we shared a couple of appetizers – Vista Chips, which are handmade root vegetable chips with a lemon & artichoke dip, as well as the Hickory Sticks, frites with attitude. My main was the 5 oz Baseball Steak (medium rare) with the crab stuffed baked potato and asparagus. Loved! Perfect portion sizes too, and my steak was done to perfection. There were a couple of lychee martinis thrown in there somewhere, and I even went for dessert. Now, I hadn’t planned on getting dessert, but when I saw the feature menu, I knew it was a given. They had a roasted yam cheesecake, with a candied pecan crust. Um, yes please! It was like pumpkin cheesecake, but better, because it was yams. I so need to try making my own.

I know, I know, I really wish I had pics, because the food and view was beautiful, but I don’t like lugging my camera around as it’s bulky. So you’ll just have to trust me on this one.

So, let’s recap Tuesday.

I started out my morning with cereal.

And the usual Happy Planet Mango Peach Party. Gotta start the morning out right!

Although dinner the night before didn’t leave me feeling stuffed or anything, I wasn’t that hungry today. This bowl of cereal was almost too much. It made it hard to pack lunch, not being hungry. I went super simple.

Tuna sandwich on Silver Hills “The Big 16” bread with dill pickle relish.

Carrots and cucumber. Shocking, I know!

And a kiwi – I need my afternoon fruit.

So around lunch time, I had my tuna sandwich. Then I started in on the veggies. The carrot tasted a little weird, but not horrible. I’ve had carrots with the same flavour before, so I thought nothing of it. Well, a couple hours later, my stomach was NOT HAPPY. Plus I was getting chills, and it’s sunny and hot out! It went on all afternoon, so I passed on the kiwi. By the time I got home, all I could do was get into my pj’s and curl up on the couch under the blanket. Not cool. I don’t know exactly what caused it, but I think it was the funky carrot.

Needless to say, my appetite was off come dinner time. I had planned a tasty Indian curry, but I didn’t think that was in my best interest. So I went for my comfort/I feel like crap food – cheese and carbs. In the form of Kraft Dinner.

I found one lonely box in the back of the cupboard, and figured I should eat it up. One less thing to move!

Later on, I decided on a little snack of fresh fruit – honeydew melon and raspberries.

Wait, who’s that in eyeing up my fruit bowl?

Sienna! Long time no see! She’s been avoiding the paparazzi me and the camera lately, but when I caught her sleeping on the stove (bad!), she just glared at me while I snapped some photos for her adoring fans ;)

I spent the rest of the evening with the furball curled up at my side while I watched tv, played some Dr Mario, and generally was a lazy ass. I had wanted to go to the gym, but seriously, the stomach pain was way too intense for that.

Well, I think it’s time I hit the sack. Tomorrow is Canada Day, so I don’t have to work. I see a bike ride & the Farmer’s Market in my future :D
